About The Position

To perform a variety of janitorial/custodial and physical work in cleaning Housing Authority properties as deemed necessary. Receives general supervision assigned management or supervisory staff. Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting or polishing chairs, desks, tables, shelves, and other furniture; washes windows, woodwork, and walls; gathers and disposes of trash; operates carpet shampooers and buffers on floors; vacuums, sweeps, dust mops, strips, and waxes floors. Perform minor repairs to furniture and equipment. Clean and restock supplies in restrooms; ensure adequate supplies are available to each determined site. Complete assigned work orders and tasks requiring janitorial/custodial skills and techniques following Housing Authority policies and procedures, public safety standards, and aesthetic guidelines related to janitorial/custodial work. Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials, supplies and equipment as required. Perform on-site inspections; assess necessary work; perform safety and vandalism checks; remove trash and debris. Maintain operational records; file reports as needed; possess basic Microsoft Office Suite computer skills. Respond to tenant inquiries in a courteous manner, provide information within the area of assignment; explain Housing Authority policies and procedures to the public. Arranges, tables, chairs, and other required items for training rooms and various events. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment, to include the operation of carpet cleaners and buffers
  • Basic methods and techniques used in general computer applications
  • Equipment, tools, and supplies used in work assigned
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping
  • Ability to perform a variety of housekeeping and janitorial duties in work assigned
  • Understand pertinent rules, ordinances, policies, and procedures
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with others
  • Possess a minimum of 1-3 years of janitorial/custodial experience, or specialized training in related fields
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
  • Must possess a Colorado Driver’s License accompanied by appropriate endorsements as defined by the Housing Authority
