About The Position

This position provides comprehensive cleaning services to the headquarters building, all 4 lodging accommodations, the historic Ames Manor House, and to a lesser extent, other outlying buildings. Facilities include a large public meeting space with commercial kitchen and dormitory style bunk house. The position will work closely with center staff, helping to identify problems such as leaks and building damages in need of repair. Maintenance and other staff will provide direction on cleaning needs that are not being met. The position will order cleaning supplies and also coordinate with outside vendors for any special cleaning requirements, which may include window washing or waxing of floors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience providing cleaning services
  • Extensive knowledge about cleaning practices used in public or commercial facilities.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments based on critical needs.
  • Ability to work with others, particularly in scheduling cleaning services to cause minimal disruption.

Nice To Haves

  • Three of more years of experience providing cleaning services, especially on public or business facilities
  • Knowledge on the cleaning, stripping and waxing of floors.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive high-quality cleaning services to include dusting, mopping, sweeping, damp wiping, and polishing as needed, with a very high standard, particularly in common-use spaces such as bathrooms, meeting spaces and break rooms, hallways to provide clean, polished surfaces.
  • Service, clean, and restock restrooms.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions or mirrors.
  • Dust/polish furniture, fixtures and walls.
  • Emptying trash and replacing liners.
  • Vacuuming of rugs and carpeted areas; spot or steam cleaning as needed.
  • Periodic waxing and buffing of designated floors.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Periodic window washing of headquarters building and other high-profile windows.
  • Cleaning of air vents or other areas prone to collect dust.
  • Maintain security of premises by making sure doors and other entry points are locked after business hours.
  • Request supplies or equipment needed for cleaning duties.
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, trash, recycled items, tables, chairs, ladders, to prepare facilities for special events, such as banquets, classes or meetings.
  • Other cleaning assignments as assigned or approved by the Director.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of cleaning supplies on hand.
  • Makes suggestions on needs and best practices for maintaining a healthy, clean working environment.
