About The Position

Operations Specialist I encompasses professional and analytical work requiring regular use of independent judgment in the practical application of management principles and techniques to improve operational activities in accordance with agency laws and policies.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of GED Certificate.
  • Five year's experience in overseeing building construction and maintenance work including experience in reviewing contract drawings and plans, specifications and preparing cost estimates.
  • Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and be eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit. PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
  • Must upload a copy of your valid driver’s license with the application at the time of applying.
  • Knowledge of building renovation and maintenance methods and material.
  • Knowledge of inspection methods.
  • Abilities to read and interpret contract drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Ability to prepare cost estimates.
  • Ability to evaluate request for renovation or maintenance work.
  • Ability deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to maintain records and write reports.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes building maintenance projects based on Departmental priorities and project cost/benefit analysis to achieve the most efficient and effective utilization of the Department's maintenance budget.
  • Conducts oversight of projects from start to finish including meeting initially with contractors and evaluating work to ensure satisfactory completion.
  • Process all bids, quotes, and requirements in accordance with fiscal practices and policies.
  • Performs and maintains a comprehensive analysis of Departmental facilities with suggestions on long and shorl term maintenance requirements.
  • Prepares expenditures status reports for program administration and evaluation. Maintain project progress for planning and expenditure control.
  • Ensures communication and coordination among all in house working parties, contractors, BCRP staff.
