Our Sustainability & Resilience practice collaborates with clients and project partners to integrate successful green solutions into the planning, design, construction, and operation of buildings, reducing their environmental impact at every stage of their life cycle. Our experienced team offers sustainable design strategies, energy analysis, green building certification consulting, sustainability analysis, and upgrades for existing structures, along with education and training. We are seeking a Designer/Planner within our Sustainability and Resilience Practice. Our practice is an interdisciplinary group of engineers, architects, planners, and landscape architects that consult on a wide range of projects both locally in the New York metro area and nationally. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or Planning to contribute to resilience projects at scales including single building design, campus master plans, and urban planning projects. Types of services include development of resilience action plans, climate hazard assessments, resilient infrastructure design, and guiding performance-based design within interdisciplinary design-build teams. This is a full-time position starting Summer 2027.

Requirements

  • Background in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning or a related field.
  • Effective communication skills including graphic, verbal, and written.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling or GIS software (e.g. Rhino, Revit, ArcGIS, QGIS).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with basic data analysis tools such as Python, R, Power BI, or Tableau is desirable.
  • Familiarity with resilience design practices and natural hazard risk analysis (e.g. Flooding, Hurricane, Tornado) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of resilience strategies for urban environment through preparation of project presentations, reports, schematic design, and design specification.
  • Develop communication materials around natural hazard risk, adaptation and mitigation strategies.
  • Support hazard modeling and adaptation measure evaluation.
  • Utilize GIS to analyze and visualize natural hazards and build environment data.
  • Create 3D models to illustrate design concepts and project proposals.
