About The Position

Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Building Monitor will exude superb customer service skills while performing a variety of general program, facility, and office support duties, general custodial and maintenance functions, and other job-related work as required. This part-time position involves 15-30 hours per week and is located at the Gibbons Community Center.

Requirements

  • Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
  • Ability to understand and use basic computer programs, audio/visual equipment, phones, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to take responsibility and use good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with facility user groups, staff, and district management.
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
  • Ability to lift more than 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to keep a flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Applicants must complete Livescan Fingerprinting and TB testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of recreation and community services programs and activities is highly desirable.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Training or willingness to complete/recertify.
  • Possess a valid CA Drivers' License.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for class and/or rental preparation, including the set-up and breakdown/cleaning of rooms, as well as opening and closing of the facility.
  • Explain and ensure proper use and maintenance of district facilities and equipment.
  • Perform basic custodial duties, including but not limited to: spot mopping, emptying trash, dusting, and sweeping.
  • Assist with customer service support, including answering phones, assisting customers with registration, and providing program information.
  • Have knowledge of all district programs and be given adequate time to learn.
  • Assist in creating and posting marketing materials for district programs, classes, and events.
  • Attend scheduled mandatory staff meetings.
  • Ability to work weekday evenings, weekends, or early morning shifts.
  • Uphold District Policies and Procedures.
