About The Position

The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of multiple UAMS buildings, ensuring facility safety, functionality, space integrity, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of UAMS Building & Space Management, the Building Manager is responsible for a wide range of facility and space management activities, providing a high level of customer service while collaborating closely with stakeholders across UAMS. This includes serving as a liaison to Engineering & Operations, Planning, Design & Construction, Environmental Services, IT, Environmental/Occupational Health & Safety, and Security Support Services. The Building Manager proactively monitors building conditions, conducts environmental and safety rounds, and coordinates resolution of operational, compliance, and facility-related issues across assigned buildings. This role facilitates space planning, occupant moves, and facility reconfigurations while maintaining the integrity of UAMS space assets and ensuring compliance with institutional policies, NCES/FICM space standards, and applicable healthcare, life safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in facility operations, safety, business, or related field
Ability to follow oral instruction, read and write
Proven customer service skills
1 year of experience in building, facility, space management, or related
Familiarity with regulatory codes and compliance standards (NFPA, Joint Commission, CMS, ADH, DFA)
Working knowledge of space use standards (NCES, FICM)
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management platforms
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in facility operations, safety, business, or related field
2 – 5 years’ experience in building, facility, space management, or related
Experience in healthcare or academic settings
Knowledge of move coordination and furniture reallocation processes
Familiarity with AutoCAD, CAFM, or space management systems
Understanding of security and access control protocols
