About The Position

This is a full-time, in-person, and essential position within the Division of Facilities Management - North District. The role operates at an independent level to respond to, troubleshoot, and correct building issues at various state facilities. Responsibilities include building temperature control, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, minor building security issues, and performing machine room rounds/equipment checks. Positions operate independently to perform a full range of tasks and determine solutions to problems, requiring judgment to adapt guidelines and apply specific processes and techniques. The role also involves administrative duties such as managing work orders, tracking labor, reconciling purchasing cards, and completing status reports.

Requirements

  • Four years of building maintenance experience that includes general maintenance and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, HVAC, ground maintenance, etc.
  • Must comply with the safety program and tool and key control.
  • Must complete record keeping tasks for work order tracking and other computer duties as required to accomplish job tasks.
  • Must complete the official State of Colorado online application.
  • Must document work experience/job duties to the extent to which you possess the skills, education, experience, minimum qualifications, and preferred qualifications.
  • Must be available to respond in person to after hours calls via callback to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
  • Must be willing to work various hours for coverage, weather related issues and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid non-restricted Colorado driver’s license. Out-of-State Driver’s License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Must successfully pass Motor Vehicle Check.
  • Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
  • Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
  • Must have State of Colorado residency at the time of application, and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance including wall repair, flooring repairs, and painting.
  • Perform mechanical room inspections and repairs, minor fence repairs, lock repairs, door repairs, hinge repairs, and fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) installation.
  • Perform minor roof repairs, carpet repairs, window repairs, sprinkler system repairs, and fire alarm system repairs.
  • Comply with the safety program and tool and key control.
  • Perform administrative duties including using the Maximo work order system, labor tracking, reconciling purchasing cards, and completing required monthly status reports.
  • Complete record-keeping tasks for work order tracking and other computer duties.
  • Provide Job Safety Analysis.
  • Monitor and control expenses in accordance with the budget.
  • Provide supervisor with estimates and proposed costs for preventative and routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Perform HVAC troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments for patient, client, and laboratory comfort, including thermostat adjustments and minor airflow modifications.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC systems such as filter change-outs, coil cleaning, belt replacement, and greasing bearings.
  • Perform plumbing troubleshooting and repairs to plumbing fixtures, including unblocking sinks, toilets, floor drains, and sewer drain lines.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs to light switches, receptacles, resetting circuit breakers, power cords, light bulb replacement, electric door locks, and HVAC controls.
  • Perform snow removal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Respond in person to after-hours calls via callback to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
