About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles. It also involves routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape and performing minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.

Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform heavy lifting.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
High school diploma or G.E.D.; OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

Performs routine building maintenance activities.
Performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets.
Performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.
Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
Monitors activities and visitors of building and grounds to ensure security.
Drives truck in order to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected, and surroundings are left neat and clean.
Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.
