The Building Maintenance Worker is an entry-level position that is expected to perform a variety of basic-level custodial and maintenance duties in the General Services Division of the Public Works Department. The General Services Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all City-owned buildings and the Presidio of Monterey. Building Maintenance Workers will work as part of a team and independently and are responsible to provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers. This position may be assigned to work shifts outside of the standard 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work hours. As part of the recruitment process, candidates who are determined to meet the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will be required to participate in a hands-on skills assessment that will test their basic carpentry, basic plumbing, and basic soldering capabilities.
