The Opportunity: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisors, you are required to perform maintenance duties such as but not limited to regular inspection of the common areas, repairs/painting of vacated suites as required, preventative maintenance, ordering of necessary supplies for repairs, recommending qualified tradesmen to perform work beyond the scope of general maintenance, and other duties as may be assigned through the Maintenance Supervisor. You are also required to respond to building maintenance emergencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in Building Maintenance or trades
  • Vocational training as related to building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC or other related trades
  • First Aid, WHIMIS, and Nonviolent Crises Intervention Training are required
  • Experience working in and/or thorough knowledge of and comfortability working in the DTES is required, along with an understanding of the socioeconomic barriers within the community.
  • All positions are subject to a criminal records review (Paid by Atira)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Organize and complete tasks independently, meeting all job expectations and responsibilities.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively under general supervision.
  • Work constructively and respectfully with program managers, staff, tenants, and colleagues.
  • Operate necessary tools and equipment.
  • Operate a company-provided cell phone and learn to use the required maintenance applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspection of common areas.
  • Perform repairs/painting of vacated suites as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Order necessary supplies for repairs.
  • Recommend qualified tradesmen to perform work beyond the scope of general maintenance.
  • Respond to building maintenance emergencies.
  • Other duties as may be assigned through the Maintenance Supervisor.
