About The Position

The Davis County Sheriff's Office is currently hiring for Building Maintenance Worker I, II, Journey Specialist in Farmington, Utah. This position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties in the maintenance of County facilities and grounds. This position will be working in a jail environment and may interact with inmates. The role involves performing carpentry work in remodeling and maintaining facilities, assisting with snow removal, landscape maintenance, painting, and custodial functions. It also includes performing electrical and plumbing maintenance, assisting with HVAC systems, and monitoring various building systems.

Requirements

  • Building Maintenance Worker I: High School diploma or equivalent. Two years of full-time experience in building maintenance and repair or related work that includes a combination of at least two of the following trade areas: carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical; an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Building Maintenance Worker II: High School diploma or equivalent. Four years of full-time directly related experience in industrial or public facility maintenance; an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Journey Maintenance Specialist: High School diploma or equivalent. Six years of full-time directly related experience in industrial or public facility maintenance, two (2) years of which must include specific journey level experience in one of the following trade areas: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating/air conditioning (HVAC), welding or a related building trade industry; an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Requires a journey level license as an electrician (may be Journeyman or Master Electrician) or a plumber (may be Journeyman Plumber or Master Plumber). Journey license must be issued by the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
  • Or must possess a certification in at least one of the following trade areas: carpentry, HVAC, or welding.
  • Must pass a criminal history background investigation as required by the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for journey-level experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, welding, or other related building trade industry.

Responsibilities

  • Performs carpentry work in remodeling and maintaining facilities; builds and installs cabinets, shelves, repairs furniture; paints facilities.
  • Assists in snow removal, landscape maintenance, outdoor lighting, painting, carpentry, and custodial functions.
  • Maintains equipment, saws, drills, and other equipment.
  • Operates in a safe manner motor vehicles and equipment: forklift, tractor, mule, skid loader, gravely power broom, hand tools.
  • Performs electrical and plumbing maintenance; installs and repairs faucets, toilets, water fountains, repairs light fixtures, switches and motors.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of the heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Monitors fire sprinkling system, fuel system, commercial boiler, water softeners, commercial plumbing and ground sprinkler systems.
