About The Position

The Building Maintenance Technician supports the mission of Gold Cross by ensuring that all building and station facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and general repair work to provide a reliable environment for emergency medical personnel and operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in building maintenance, facilities support, or related field.
  • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, bend, and perform manual labor.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with safety standards applicable to healthcare and emergency service facilities preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, and resolve maintenance issues quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance of ambulance bays, garages, and support facilities.
  • Conduct general repairs, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
  • Ensure station equipment remains operational, safe, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from operations and field staff to minimize downtime or disruption.
  • Complete seasonal facility maintenance, including snow removal, salting, lawn care, and exterior upkeep.
  • Assist with facility preparation for inspections, licensing reviews, and accreditation visits.
  • Support special projects, remodels, and facility upgrades as assigned.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule for all facilities and building systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and service agreements.
  • Manage inventory of facility-related supplies and equipment, ensuring availability for routine upkeep.
