About The Position

At Steele Auto Group, our buildings are more than walls and floors; they are the backbone of everything we do. Steele Chevrolet is a 120,000+ square foot automotive facility that sees constant traffic, hundreds of doors opening daily, thousands of light fixtures shining bright, walls with layers of paint, service bays in full swing, and a steady rotation of customers, vehicles, and team members. With significant annual investments dedicated to maintaining this property, we are looking for the right person to take ownership to keep this building functional. We are looking for a certified tradesperson or experienced maintenance professional who sees more than a building, you see systems, structure, pride of ownership, and opportunity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, combined with at least five years of hands on experience in building or property maintenance, or a related trade environment
  • Solid working knowledge of carpentry, basic plumbing, heating systems, painting, and drywall repair
  • Understanding of commercial building systems, with familiarity in National Building Code standards and Occupational Health and Safety practices
  • Confidence using electrical and mechanical tools safely and effectively
  • Physical capability to perform active, hands on work

Nice To Haves

  • Dealership or industrial experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of oil handling systems is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain properties under NSPHA standards, including walks, driveways, and parking areas
  • Carry out assessment and preventative maintenance on all assigned buildings, appliances, fixtures, utilities, and equipment, following established standards and procedures
  • Conduct routine inspections and schedule or monitor inspections for fire, insurance, alarm systems, equipment, and more
  • Perform minor repairs on windows, doors, switches, desks, tables, plugs, appliances, sinks, toilets, blinds, and other fixtures
  • Patch and repair drywall, complete painting and touch-ups
  • Clean and maintain light fixtures, replace bulbs and tubes
  • Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively
  • Liaise with contractors and external vendors as required
  • Perform all other duties needed to keep the facility running smoothly
  • Support cleanliness of service bays, shop floors, storage areas, and exterior grounds
  • Support oil system monitoring and safe clean-up procedures
  • Support equipment moves, dealership displays, snow removal, lawn care, and general grounds upkeep
