About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to join our team in San Diego, CA. This role involves providing facility maintenance for laboratory and office areas, including general maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance on equipment. The technician will also be responsible for waste collection and disposal, ensuring facilities are safe and aesthetically pleasing, and documenting all maintenance activities. This position supports Maintenance Engineers with daily operations, planned preventative, and reactive maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year or more of experience working independently with minimal supervision and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • 1 year or more of using hand tools and performing basic repairs.
  • Good computer skills including ability to manage electronic work order tickets.
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License and good driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational training or certification in facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing or related field.
  • 3 years or more of experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing or construction trades.
  • 2 years or more of experience as a handyman and general exposure to construction and engineering environment.
  • 1 year or more of experience in providing internal customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide facility maintenance of laboratory and office areas.
  • Perform general facility maintenance services including changing and replacing light bulbs, moving furniture for room setup and tear down, carpet repair, light painting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform adjustments, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a variety of laboratory and office equipment.
  • Respond to requests from internal customers following established practices.
  • Update and track orders through maintenance software.
  • Use a variety of hand, power, and machine tools to perform assignments.
  • Ensure facilities are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Collect and document lab waste including halogenated & non-halogenated solvents, infectious waste, and other products requiring controlled disposal.
  • Support Maintenance Engineers with day-to-day operation, planned preventative and reactive maintenance of site.
  • Perform planned maintenance tasks as directed by the Team Leader.
