About The Position

The Building Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position ensures that all facilities are safe, functional, and well maintained to support staff operations and public access.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
  • Familiarity with building automation or work order systems.
  • Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and safety instructions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and recordkeeping skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (for logging work orders, emails, etc.).
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at heights.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade certification or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and infrastructure.
  • Complete carpentry, drywall, painting, and other structural repair work.
  • Maintain interior and exterior areas, including lighting, doors, windows, sidewalks, and minor landscaping.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Assist with office setups, moves, and minor furniture repairs.
  • Perform building security duties as required, such as monitoring access, securing doors, and reporting safety or security concerns.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
