About The Position

Idaho Power is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician I or II to join their Corporate Services & Communication team in Twin Falls, Idaho. This role is crucial for safely providing reliable and affordable energy to customers in Idaho and Oregon. The technician will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of buildings and their systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and security. The position involves supporting other technicians, operating and maintaining building systems, identifying and prioritizing maintenance concerns, reporting on equipment and facility conditions, assisting with budget management, administering maintenance contracts, and building trust with customers by resolving issues that affect their comfort and productivity. Requirements

  • Knowledge of Electrical systems, including low voltage control systems.
  • Knowledge of Building construction and building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting.
  • Knowledge of Locks and keys.
  • Knowledge of Electronics concepts and principles.
  • Skills in Troubleshooting building systems.
  • Skills in Basic mechanics.
  • Skills in Basic plumbing, pipefitting and drain cleaning.
  • Skills in Making repairs including soldering and brazing.
  • Skills in Electrical skills including conduit modification, wiring, troubleshooting and repair of controls.
  • Skills in Basic carpentry skills including repair and maintenance of doors and windows as well as wallboard repair and painting.
  • Skills in Written and verbal communication.
  • Skills in Proven interpersonal skills.
  • Skills in General computer usage, including e-mail, file management etc.
  • Ability to Prioritize work and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to Maintain a high level of quality.
  • Ability to Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to Remain motivated and constantly implement process improvements.
  • Ability to Safely operate lifts and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to Safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to Read schematic diagrams.
  • Ability to Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively complete tasks and goals with minimal supervision or help.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record according to driving requirements of the position.

  • Building Maintenance Technician I: HVAC trade school, electronics trade school, or other trade program.
  • Building Maintenance Technician I: Idaho journeyman electrical, HVAC, or plumbing license.
  • Building Maintenance Technician I: Demonstrated experience with computerized access control, lighting, and building management systems.
  • Building Maintenance Technician II: HVAC trade school, electronics trade school, or other trade program.
  • Building Maintenance Technician II: Demonstrated experience with computerized access control, lighting, and building management systems.
  • Building Maintenance Technician II: Idaho journeyman electrical, HVAC or plumbing license.
  • EPA/DEQ Certification in proper refrigerant handling.
  • Preferred: Idaho journeyman or specialty electrical license.
  • Preferred: Idaho plumbing license.
  • Preferred: Idaho general contracting license.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safe, efficient operation and maintenance of buildings and systems including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and security.
  • Providing support to other Maintenance Technicians as needed.
  • Operating and maintaining building systems.
  • Identifying and prioritizing building and facility maintenance concerns.
  • Providing information to leaders regarding conditions of equipment and facilities.
  • Helps maintain budget and administrate maintenance contracts.
  • Builds and maintains trust of customers.
  • Takes the time to listen and resolve issues that directly affect their comfort and productivity.
  • Build trust with customers in the department’s ability to resolve issues.
  • Being self-motivated.
  • Participation in a regular 24/7 on-call rotation is required.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Wear proper clothing and personal protective equipment for tasks or duties.
  • Properly report accidents and incidents.
