The Building Maintenance Technician position reports to the Director of Facilities. This position performs general maintenance duties/repairs as assigned. The role involves performing urgent corrective, routine, and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. It also includes performing maintenance on equipment and systems, as well as preventative maintenance on all physical structures of the hospital. The technician must comply with all hospital building codes, including those for facility equipment and associated controls. Accurate documentation of all inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs is required. The position also entails maintaining Preventative Maintenance and Daily Work Logs, performing daily rounds, and reporting any issues to the Director of Facilities. The role requires reporting to work on time, ensuring no incidental overtime, and properly documenting any authorized overtime. Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing, is essential. Maintaining patient confidentiality according to HIPAA laws is a key responsibility. The technician will work day, evening, night, and weekend shifts as assigned and must be able to work with minimal supervision. Additional duties include performing manual tasks such as moving supplies or furniture, and replacing light bulbs. Timely and accurate information exchange at shift changes is necessary. The role requires demonstrated knowledge of tool and equipment usage and maintenance, observance of safety precautions, and the ability to follow instructions in various formats. Adherence to Infection Control precautions in patient care areas and basic knowledge of Fire Life Safety systems and emergency response are also required. The technician will complete assigned goals and objectives for the performance period.
