About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is currently searching for a qualified and reliable Building Maintenance Specialist to oversee and carry out preventive maintenance, and assignments as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, kitchen equipment repairs and utility service system. In this position, you will also ensure all work complies with national and local building codes and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) laws and rules at the Arizona State Prison Complex - Tucson.

Requirements

  • Structural issues regarding building and utility service systems, including blueprints, safety practices, and codes
  • Trades, e.g., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, etc.
  • Budgeting to include estimating costs and ordering materials
  • Common and specialized tools for performing duties
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and national and local building codes/regulations
  • Basic reading of blueprints, schematics, and general construction
  • Mechanical devices, electrical, preventative maintenance
  • Using and demonstrating the use of common and specialized tools
  • Written and verbal communication
  • Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Work in a prison environment
  • Supervise inmate work crews
  • Background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination
  • Tuberculosis (TB) test
  • Current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
  • Completion of all required driver training
  • Acceptable driving records
  • Statutorily required liability insurance (if operating a personally owned vehicle)
  • Completion of the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and plans maintenance-related projects to include pricing, material list, equipment and needs
  • Performs maintenance, and preventative maintenance tasks as required and scheduled
  • Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment including computers, internet research, and completion on documents
  • Inspects, and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and all are accounted for
  • Supervises and evaluates inmate works performance
  • Attends staff meetings and training as required
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
