About The Position

This position is involved in the daily repairs of plumbing, electrical, lighting, gas, water, and HVAC systems within ASPC-Phoenix.

Requirements

• Knowledge of building and utility service systems including blueprints, safety practices and codes
• Knowledge of methods and practices involved in remodeling and construction
• Knowledge of trades, e.g., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general facility maintenance and preventive maintenance
• Knowledge of budgeting to include estimating costs and ordering materials
• Knowledge of common and specialized tools and equipment for performing duties
• Knowledge of OSHA & Department of Environmental Quality safety guidelines
• Knowledge of local and national building codes
• Skill in written and verbal communication
• Skill in building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
• Skill in basic reading of blueprints and schematics
• Skill in estimating, costing, and ordering materials
• Skill in applying and demonstrating leadership
• Ability to work in a prison environment
• Ability to learn and adhere to Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry policies and procedures
• Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license
• Must complete all required driver training
• Must successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks
• Must maintain acceptable driving records
• Must maintain the statutorily required liability insurance if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business
• Must take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter
• Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Responsibilities

• Plans maintenance related projects and oversees completion
• Resolves issues and answers questions related to work methods /processes
• Schedules and supervises repair tasks, including preventative and general maintenance
• Completes related documentation
• Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order
• Conducts inspections
• Supervises and evaluates inmate workers performance
• Drives on State business
• Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
