About The Position

This civil service position involves responsibility for the efficient performance of varied maintenance and repair tasks. Performs a variety of tasks in connection with the maintenance and repair of building facilities, grounds and equipment. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • Must meet NYSED Fingerprinting requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must meet civil service requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial or industrial plumbing experience
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Good physical strength and physical condition.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain water, gas, sewer, and drainage systems across multiple district buildings.
  • Install, upgrade, and repair plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, water fountains, commercial water heaters, backflow preventers, and pumps.
  • Troubleshoot complex plumbing issues, clear major blockages, and respond promptly to urgent plumbing emergencies or leaks.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections to identify potential systems failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, materials used, inspections and regular compliance logs.
  • Install new equipment as needed.
  • Snow removal
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor
