About The Position

NV5 is seeking a Building Inspector to support its Geotechnical group. The role provides field and laboratory testing and inspection services, verifies that construction complies with applicable codes and approved plans, and maintains comprehensive project documentation. The inspector works with Project Managers, Engineers, and clients through project meetings and daily site interactions. Candidates should have experience in civil construction practices and relevant testing procedures.

Requirements

• Education is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
• At least 5 years of field experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication and people management skills.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving experience.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and load up to 75 pounds.
• Excellent organizational skills.

• Asphalt Paving Technician Level I certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide field and laboratory testing and inspection services as required.
• Complete project documentation.
• Inspect construction to verify adherence to approved codes, laws, ordinances, regulations, and standards.
• Verify that construction complies with approved plans and calculations.
• Read, research, and objectively interpret code requirements.
• Maintain clear, concise, and comprehensive records related to inspection activities.
• Review complex engineering documents to ensure construction compliance.
• Interface with Project Managers, Engineers, and clients through project meetings and daily site interaction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
