About The Position

American Fork City is hiring a full-time Building Inspector I, II, or III to perform entry-level and para-professional technical duties, primarily conducting site inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial structures. The inspector ensures construction complies with city and state building codes, assesses project integrity, identifies potential issues, and provides feedback to builders and developers. The role supports public safety, construction quality, and the growth and development of the American Fork community. Expected pay is $24.75 to $45.26 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
2–3 years of experience in construction or a related field.
At least two ICC certifications.
State of Utah Limited Inspector certification.
Complete two additional ICC certifications within 12 months of hire; examples include electrical, building, mechanical, or plumbing.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
Ability to use inspection software and tools.
Effective communication skills for interacting with contractors, homeowners, and city officials.
