About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of complex technical tasks in the enforcement of building, zoning, and related codes and ordinances. The Building Inspector Site Manager will conduct inspections of residential and commercial properties to ensure compliance with approved plans and applicable codes. This role involves reviewing plans, issuing permits, responding to complaints, and maintaining records. The position requires a thorough understanding of building codes, construction methods, and safety regulations. The Building Inspector Site Manager will also be responsible for overseeing site operations and ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building inspection, construction, or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid Nevada State Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of building codes (e.g., International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, International Fire Code, National Electrical Code).
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans, specifications, and legal descriptions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to perform physical demands of the job, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting.
  • Must be able to upload all required documents as listed in the job description.
  • Must complete the entire seven (7) year work history in the “Experience and Credentials” section of the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling and volunteer work.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of relevant certifications (e.g., International Code Council - ICC certifications).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of residential and commercial properties during various stages of construction and occupancy.
  • Enforce building, zoning, and related codes and ordinances.
  • Review building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with approved plans and applicable codes.
  • Issue building permits and certificates of occupancy.
  • Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding code violations.
  • Investigate potential code violations and take appropriate enforcement actions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, permits, and enforcement actions.
  • Prepare reports on inspection activities and code compliance.
  • Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and the public to ensure code compliance.
  • Stay current with changes in building codes, regulations, and construction practices.
  • Oversee site operations and ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
