About The Position

The City and County of Denver is seeking a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Project Manager to serve as a technical expert for Denver International Airport (DEN). This role involves developing and implementing industry-accepted standards and procedures for the use of BIM/CIM applications and services, supporting the Horizontal BIM/CIM team. DEN is a major economic engine for Colorado and is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional level experience working on multidisciplinary digital facilities and infrastructure, building information modeling, or civil information modeling projects.
  • Advanced expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D, including design, implementation, administration, customization, and enterprise deployment of standards, templates, styles, label sets, code sets, and part catalogs.
  • Deep understanding of civil engineering and infrastructure design workflows such as grading, corridors, alignments, profiles, utilities, pipe networks, airfield, transportation, and site development.
  • Proven experience developing, governing, and enforcing CAD/BIM/CIM standards, best practices, quality control procedures, and digital delivery workflows across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of Common Data Environments (CDEs) and digital collaboration platforms (e.g., Autodesk Forma, BIM Collaborate Pro) and experience integrating Civil 3D with GIS, BIM, Asset Management, and Digital Twin systems.
  • Effective trainer and mentor with experience supporting engineers, designers, consultants, and project teams, and proficiency reviewing and producing technical documentation, standards manuals, and implementation guides.
  • Familiarity with broader Autodesk ecosystem tools, including InfraWorks, Recap, Navisworks, and Forma, and success collaborating with engineering consultants, contractors, airport authorities, government agencies, and asset management stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and facilitation skills with the ability to lead technical working groups, resolve complex technical issues, and drive innovation, continuous improvement, and consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN).

Responsibilities

  • Perform design review for horizontal construction projects at each phase of the design cycle (30, 60, 90, commissioning).
  • Ensure compliance with DEN's Design Standards Manual and FAA requirements.
  • Provide feedback to the designer, contractor, and DEN project manager.
  • Review the Design Standards Manual annually, or as required, and provide input on necessary revisions.
  • Attend staff meetings, project update meetings, planning groups, and all events which require expertise in DEN's BIM program as assigned by the Senior BIM PM.
  • Plan and conduct subject matter project meetings with stakeholders and project staff to communicate milestones and completion dates, provide technical advice and solutions, and resolve issues that arise during a project.
  • Review and analyze project change requests and make recommendations related to the execution of these requests, taking into consideration the impact on the project schedule, cost, and resources; direct the implementation of changes to project deliverables, resources, timelines, or budget.
  • Develop and implement plans to ensure compliance with industry standards, FAA, protocols, and established business practices; conduct risk and cost/benefit analyses, manage risk associated with projects, and devise strategies to deal with unexpected crises and unresolved risks.
  • Ensure the quality of project deliverables and obtain user acceptance of completed products or services; perform project closure activities including release of contract and permanent staff from the project, and complete lessons learned and project implementation review of best practices.
  • Participate in the design, testing, modification and implementation of new horizontal BIM/CIM content.
  • Assist the horizontal BIM/CIM team in executing the DEN BIM vision as set by the DEN Asset Management Leadership.
