Under the general supervision of the Building/Grounds Supervisor, this position provides manual labor and operates the necessary equipment to perform grounds maintenance tasks and landscaping operations on a large campus. Our mission is to create safe, beautiful, and welcoming outdoor spaces that inspire comfort and community. The position for this posting is located at Pee Dee Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Florence, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • Trades experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of how to carry out grounds keeping tasks.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, climb, balance, kneel, push, pull, grasp, and physically manipulate objects of varying size, shape, weight and material.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment.
  • Knowledge of personnel practices in state government.
  • Skills in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to keep accurate written records.
  • Ability to independently perform grounds keeping tasks and/or performs planning as identified.

Responsibilities

  • Checks fence lines to make sure that fences have not been damaged to prevent consumers injuries.
  • Picks up all trash, tree branches, and debris on campus and outside fence line, front gate entrance and also back gate entrance daily.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of cutting grass and bushes, trimming trees, weeding flower beds, and killing weeds.
  • Weed eats around all campus buildings.
  • Maintains all lawn equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
