About The Position

Tutor Perini Civil-East is seeking a Building General Superintendent to join our project site in Midtown Manhattan, NY, NY. This role involves managing day-to-day construction operations for a bus terminal project, including structures, platforms, passenger facilities, and associated infrastructure. The Building General Superintendent will coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure efficient workflow and sequencing of activities, working closely with project managers, engineers, and inspectors to maintain alignment with project goals. The position requires developing and maintaining construction schedules, monitoring progress, and adjusting plans as needed. Safety management is crucial, involving the enforcement of company safety policies and OSHA regulations, conducting daily safety meetings, site inspections, and hazard assessments. Quality control is also a key responsibility, ensuring all work meets project specifications, codes, and quality standards, and addressing deficiencies promptly. The role includes overseeing site logistics, managing site utilities, temporary structures, and environmental controls, and maintaining organized job site conditions. The Building General Superintendent will serve as the primary on-site point of contact for owners, consultants, inspectors, and local agencies, providing regular updates and participating in project meetings and reporting.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
15+ years of experience in civil or commercial construction, with at least 5 years in a superintendent role for a heavy civil general contractor.
Experience with transportation infrastructure projects (bus terminals, transit centers, or similar) strongly preferred.
Experience managing construction projects valued over 250 million.
Proficient in construction management software and scheduling tools.
OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
First Aid/CPR certification.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Nice To Haves

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
Additional certifications (e.g., NCCER, LEED) are a plus.

Responsibilities

Ensure all work meets project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
Conduct inspections and coordinate with quality control personnel.
Address deficiencies and implement corrective actions promptly.
Oversee site logistics, including access roads, traffic control, staging areas, and security.
Manage site utilities, temporary structures, and environmental controls.
Maintain organized and efficient job site conditions.
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for owners, consultants, inspectors, and local agencies.
Provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and milestones.
Participate in project meetings and reporting.
