About The Position

At UES, a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing and inspection, the Building Envelope Technician works with experienced professionals to evaluate and test building systems that protect structures from water, air, and moisture intrusion. The role involves hands-on inspections and field testing of roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building components on commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential projects. Technicians work with project managers, technical experts, contractors, owners, and construction teams to assess installation and performance against plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirements. They use specialized testing equipment and building-science technologies, document findings, and assist with follow-up inspections and retesting. The position offers technical training and opportunities to develop expertise in building enclosure performance, construction quality assurance, and consulting services. The position requires moderate travel to jobsites, approximately up to 40% of the time, sometimes on short notice. Work is primarily outdoors in active construction or industrial environments, with exposure to uneven or rugged terrain, noise, dust, heat, humidity, sun, and adverse weather. Company safety protocols and PPE are required during travel and on-site work.
