About The Position

The Building Engineer serves as the lead technical authority overseeing reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems across Siemens Energy multi-site facilities in Central Florida, including commercial office, warehouse, and production spaces. The role handles facility-related troubleshooting, investigation, repairs, preventive maintenance, vendor management, reactive work orders, inventory, and maintenance planning. It also supports energy conservation initiatives and ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, in compliance with operational standards, and with minimal impact on production and facility activities. The position administers CMMS work-order processes, conducts facility walks to identify and document proactive work, plans and schedules preventive and corrective maintenance, procures materials, and coordinates subcontractor activities. The Building Engineer works with the Site Manager, Facility Manager, Production staff, Maintenance staff, and other teams to resolve issues, improve procedures, and maintain the facilities.

Requirements

Preferred seven years of direct experience in commercial building operations and maintenance; the posting also lists 5–10 years of business experience.
High school diploma or equivalent and technical school certification.
Strong applied knowledge of commercial HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems and equipment.
Functional knowledge of general maintenance, including light carpentry, painting, minor electrical work, and locksmithing.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
Previous experience in a planner/scheduler role.
Good computer navigation skills.

Journeyman-level technical background.

Nice To Haves

EPA Universal (Section 608) HVAC certification.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, investigate, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems.
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial systems.
Manage reactive on-demand work orders, including follow-up, timely resolution, documentation, and closeout in the CMMS.
Conduct regular facility walks, identify issues, create proactive work orders, and report potential improvements to the Site Manager.
Manage vendor relationships, coordinate and oversee subcontractor work, evaluate performance, and ensure compliance with standards.
Plan and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize impacts on production and facility activities.
Assist with procurement of materials for the Maintenance department and maintain organized attic stock inventory.
Assist craftspeople and managers with troubleshooting complex failures and executing corrective actions in the field.
Generate purchase requisitions and schedule subcontractor maintenance activities.
Receive trouble calls, generate work orders, plan and schedule work, and perform on-demand repairs and emergency responses as required.
Maintain safe working conditions in areas under the engineer’s care and take corrective action when notified of safety violations.
Refine existing procedures to adapt to changes in the operational landscape.
Coordinate maintenance planning with Production staff, the Facility Manager, and the Site Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Site Manager.
