About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and operation of building systems and equipment. This includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance. The Building Engineer I will ensure the safe and efficient operation of all building systems, respond to maintenance requests, and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for students and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of building systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical school training in a related field.
  • Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency repairs on building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on building equipment and systems according to schedule.
  • Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with building systems and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment and systems.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Perform general building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping as needed.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to ensure smooth operations.
