About The Position

The Building Engineer - HVAC is responsible for maintaining all facility equipment in good working condition, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems; lighting and climate control systems; kitchen equipment; roofing systems; ground support equipment; and maintenance and cleaning equipment under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. The role provides support and customer service to various departments and stakeholders throughout the facility and requires the ability to effectively manage a variety of challenges in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as this position regularly partners with co-workers and departments across the organization. With a primary emphasis on HVAC systems, a strong HVAC background and technical expertise are required for success in this role.

Requirements

  • AA/AS Degree or Vocational Certification in related field required
  • HVAC certification/licensing required
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with HVAC equipment required
  • Proficient at reading schematics / architectural drawings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Dynamic, hardworking, confident.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Understanding of commercial kitchen equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrician/Plumbing license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, repair and maintain the facility's environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC and lighting systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
  • Repair and rebuild various items, such as motors, compressors, and ice machines.
  • Follow the preventive maintenance program, energy management program and standard operating procedures for all machinery and equipment.
  • Tracks and enters appropriate information into corporate Maintenance Program.
  • Assist other Operation Department divisions to expedite event conversions, as needed.
  • Promote a safe working environment for all employees by following the life safety and emergency program as needed.
  • Operate equipment, such as, light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scrubbing machines, or other light power-driven equipment.
  • Respond to routine, precautionary and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
  • Repairs and maintains food service equipment including ovens, grills, dishwashers, deep fryers, and refrigeration units.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
