Building Crew Worker
About The Position
As a Building Crew Worker, you'll help ensure that the Town's facilities are clean, safe, and welcoming for employees, residents, and visitors. Your work will be visible in the details—from clean restrooms and floors to well-maintained public spaces. This position participates in the custodial maintenance of Town buildings. Requirements
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- No prior experience required
- Valid New Hampshire driver’s license
- Knowledge of Town safety policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the proper use of various cleaning chemicals
- Skill in operating cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners and buffers
- Skill in using various hand tools
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
- Ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work effectively around the public
- Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and other Town employees
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including fixtures and mirrors, and replenish soap and paper products
- Sweep and mop floors and help maintain clean, well-kept flooring throughout Town facilities
- Dust mop, vacuum, and mop tile floors and sweep carpeted areas using a push sweeper
- Wax floors annually as part of ongoing facility maintenance
- Clean kitchen tables and countertops
- Dust furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces
- Clean glass windows and doors
- Clean frequently touched areas such as door handles and hand railings
- Spot-clean walls to help maintain attractive facilities
- Empty and clean trash cans
- Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and buffers
- Safely use a variety of hand tools and cleaning chemicals
- Follow Town safety policies, procedures, and applicable material safety information
- Prioritize assigned work and follow instructions
- Work respectfully around coworkers, other Town employees, and members of the public
- Perform related duties as assigned
