About The Position

The Building Automation Controls Technician is responsible for completing service calls while maintaining positive client relations. This role involves troubleshooting installations, fine-tuning systems, and identifying opportunities for building enhancements. The technician will also perform software programming, equipment start-up, tuning, calibration, and commissioning of BAS systems. Staying informed about industry developments for energy savings strategies and providing feedback for process improvement are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Field experience in the HVAC controls industry including DDC Systems commissioning, software integration operation, calibration and experience with pneumatic controls.
  • Knowledge of Automated Logic commissioning tools and field circuit debugging skills.
  • Understanding of the construction industry with emphasis in mechanical/electrical fields.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong communication, organizational and documentation skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, WebCTRL, Autocad, various operating systems.
  • Proven track record of completing projects, being self-motivated and achieving customer satisfaction.
  • Deploy, revise, checkout, and commission building automation, DDC, energy management and controls systems hardware, software and graphics.

Nice To Haves

  • Field Supervisor positions also available for individuals with more than 3-4 years’ experience, and capable of supervision of subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency service calls on existing BMS systems.
  • Troubleshoot installations and correct deficiencies without direct supervision.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to evaluate service needs, maintain proper scheduling and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor customer buildings to ensure optimum performance standards are being achieved. Fine tune systems as new programs and sequences are developed.
  • Identify opportunities for additional building enhancements and perform upgrades and/or small scale retrofits on existing systems.
  • Perform building surveys and work with Service Manager on estimating additional work.
  • Perform necessary software programming, equipment start-up, tuning and calibration and commissioning of BAS systems.
  • Be proficient in knowledge of following equipment: VAVs, Exhaust Fans, Unit Vents, AHUs, Hot Water Systems, Chiller Water Systems, and Lighting.
  • Stay informed of industry developments for energy savings strategies.
  • Effectively provide feedback to supervisor for ways to improve the installation process.
  • Utilize Automated Logic’s Dealer website and stay current on technical data and solutions for existing problems and updates.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed and approved by management.
