About The Position

Operating as a licensed private provider under Florida Statute 553.791, we deliver expert, reliable, and timely services while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and customer service. As we continue expanding our presence across Florida, we are seeking a multi-disciplined Plans Examiner & Building Code Inspector to join our growing team in St. Petersburg. We are looking for an experienced professional to take on a dual role as both a Plans Examiner and Building Code Inspector. This position is central to ensuring compliance with the Florida Building Code and local regulations through plan review and on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties. You will work closely with contractors, developers, and local building departments to facilitate the fast, efficient permitting and inspection process our clients rely on.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in building code plan review, inspections, or a related field.
  • Applicants must hold all four residential discipline licenses for the state of Florida: Residential Plans Examiner and Inspector, Building (structural) Residential Plans Examiner and Inspector, Mechanical Residential Plans Examiner and Inspector, Electrical Residential Plans Examiner and Inspector, Plumbing
  • Strong working knowledge of the Florida Building Code, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and energy provisions.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with permitting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interactions and issue resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • In addition to the four residential licenses above, candidates who hold one or more of the corresponding standard (commercial) discipline licenses (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing) will be given strong preference.
  • Candidates with all four commercial disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Examine architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and local ordinances.
  • Provide clear, concise feedback to clients regarding required corrections or clarifications.
  • Communicate with contractors, engineers, and architects to resolve compliance issues efficiently.
  • Conduct thorough inspections at all stages of construction to verify compliance with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes.
  • Document inspection results and notify clients of any required modifications or deficiencies.
  • Complete inspections and reports promptly to support our same-day and next-day service commitments.
  • Stay current on Florida Building Code updates, local ordinances, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of plan reviews, inspections, correspondence, and project progress.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless process from plan review through final project approval.
