About The Position

Tew & Taylor, a licensed private provider since 2008, is expanding its presence across Florida and seeking a multi-disciplined Plans Examiner & Building Code Inspector to join their team in St. Petersburg. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with the Florida Building Code and local regulations through on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties. The inspector will collaborate with contractors, developers, and local building departments to maintain the company's reputation for fast, efficient inspection services.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in building code inspections or a related field.
• Ability to hold a 1&2 Family Dwelling license.
• Strong working knowledge of the Florida Building Code, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and energy provisions.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills for client interactions and issue resolution.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple inspections and projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

• Hold one or more standard (commercial) inspector licenses (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing).
• Carry multiple commercial disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections at all stages of construction to verify compliance with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes.
• Document inspection results and notify clients of any required modifications or deficiencies.
• Complete inspections and reports promptly through easy-to-use software to support same-day and next-day service commitments.
• Stay current on Florida Building Code updates, local ordinances, and industry best practices.
• Maintain detailed and organized records of inspections, correspondence, and project progress.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless process from initial inspection through final project approval.
