About The Position

This position will perform a variety of maintenance repair duties involving walls, doors, ceiling tile replacement, concrete and masonry work, and other skilled maintenance duties as required. This role will construct, repair, and maintain building structures, fixtures, furnishings, and facility components throughout Toyota Center. From custom woodworking projects and facility improvements to event conversions and emergency repairs, this role will play a vital role in creating a safe, professional, and exceptional environment for athletes, employees, performers, partners, and guests.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years Carpentry experience.
  • Ability to work long and varied hours including nights and weekends.
  • Good communication, management and supervisory skills.
  • Must be very organized, flexible, personable, and able to take direction.
  • Operate standard office equipment and computers using MS Office.
  • Understanding of electronic work order systems and familiar with review, creating notes, close-out of work orders.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with multi-purpose/arena facility preferred.
  • Welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, construct, rebuild, install, repair and maintain woodwork and related structures at Toyota Center.
  • Perform other general repairs/maintenance as required.
  • Cleans, maintains, adjusts, calibrates and services equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to state and federal code requirements and reports back to supervisor.
  • Proficient knowledge to measure, square, and prep rough openings for commercial hollow metal, steel, or wood frames.
  • Setting, anchoring, shimming, and plumbing door frames into concrete, drywall, or masonry structures using hand and power tools.
  • Installing hinges, locksets, closers, and architectural hardware onto the installed frames, while aligning existing or new frames and doors to fix binding, gaps, or closure failures.
  • Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on forklifts, scissor lifts, and other machinery.
  • Assist with coordinating outside contractors used for special woodworking and maintenance projects.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, addressing issues, solving problems and regularly communicating with staff.
  • Estimate the amount of lumber and other materials needed for a project.
  • Coordinate material ordering and maintain general inventory.
  • Proficient knowledge to repair, re-key, and replace mechanical and electronic locks, panic bars, and door hardware.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and drawings; perform work to specified standards.
  • Ability to work closely with other maintenance trades groups and be a self-starter working under minimum supervision.
  • Able to set and meet necessary schedules and deadlines.
  • Operate power tools, planers, hand tools and other required machinery and equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, aerial lifts and other machined equipment as necessary.
