About The Position

The purpose of your role as a Building Automation System Specialist I This position primarily controls operational verification testing and point to point verification ensuring the system runs as efficiently as possible. This position works as a part of a team with other specialists at client or project job sites to ensure proper installation of BA systems, as well as provide diagnostic and repair services.  Contributes to the desired culture and safety of the organization.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related preferred.
  • 6 months of Basic understanding of mechanical systems: what they do and how they operate.
  • 6 months of Basic understanding of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems including the various components and processes.
  • 6 months of basic understanding of various design concepts.
  • 6 months of basic understanding of physical principles.
  • 6 months of Basic understanding of computers, electronics, and electrical circuits and how they work together.
  • 6 months of Basic understanding of engineering and technology including principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • 6 months of basic understanding of documentation and recording process.
  • 6 months of Basic understanding of building and construction materials, tools, and processes.
  • 6 months of customer service experience.
  • 1+ years of use/knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • 3 years with a driving record that meets company guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions.
  • Inspect systems to determine if they are operating properly
  • Reviews plans, specifications, and design to understand project scope.
  • Ensure the proper installation of components.
  • Test components for proper functioning.
  • Diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of system components, assemblies, or systems.
  • Set up and operate standard or specialized testing equipment.
  • Ensure sensor location and functionality.
  • Create images for user interface and/or system dashboards.
  • Present designs and reports to customers or design engineers or consultants for approval and discuss need for modification.
  • Design images/maps of controlled systems within a building.
  • Repair/Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Discuss heating or cooling system malfunction with user to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected the issues.
  • Recommend, develop, or perform preventive or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, tightening terminals, or vacuuming control panels.
  • Advise others on issues related to repairs, installation, or equipment design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions and makes recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations.
  • Adjust system controls to settings that meet Harris standards.
  • Adjust equipment or system controls to ensure optimal performance.
  • Record and report time, materials, faults, deficiencies, or other unusual occurrences on work orders.
  • Complete customer service and expense reports.
  • Document operational activities.
  • Compile job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training forms, training certificates and punch lists.
