The purpose of your role as a Building Automation Project Sales Representative is to develop revenue from sales activities to new and existing clients by developing solutions for building automation projects in assigned markets. This position also requires the ability to manage existing customer relationships. You will need a competent understanding of HVAC and Building Automation systems and how they function, including an understanding of energy use, sustainability, and operational waste in systems. A systems-thinking approach is crucial, enabling you to see the entire system and how its components function to meet customer business expectations. You will interpret drawings, equipment, and job conditions, survey/identify systems, and understand prospect needs and problems. The ability to determine repair, modification, replacement, and/or upgrade requirements to provide prospects with solutions is essential. You will translate knowledge, experience, and solutions into proposals that enhance the customer’s facility while reducing costs to operate, maintain, and repair systems. Prospecting involves using Harris CRM to maintain an up-to-date and accurate sales pipeline and an active backlog of quotes to consistently meet booking goals. You will cross-sell and up-sell controls, service, and mechanical project work within your region to leverage the full range of capabilities and develop retrofit solutions with plan and spec solutions. Key knowledge of retrofit building automation solutions is required, including reviewing specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and project requirements. You will accurately estimate sizes, distances, and quantities to determine time, costs, resources, subcontractors, and materials needed. Understanding the prospect’s needs, both technically and financially, and using that understanding to create customized solutions is vital. You will use standard operating practices to generate project pricing at the company authorized margins. Customer relations are paramount, requiring you to conduct business in alignment with Harris values, maintain timely and professional communication, promptly address customer concerns, and build rapport with customers, vendors, and Harris team members. You will effectively represent the company’s interests in all activities.
