About The Position

We are seeking a strategic Building Automation Manager to architect and lead the deployment, support, and optimization of our newly established Building Automation Team. This leadership role is critical in scaling BAS solutions across our national footprint, ensuring that facilities operations are integrated, sustainable, and resilient. The ideal candidate will possess a "founder's mindset," capable of transitioning a start-up internal function into a mature, enterprise-grade operational standard.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10–12 years of progressive experience in BAS or Controls Engineering, with a proven track record of managing multi-site portfolios.
  • Expert-level knowledge of HVAC, lighting, and energy management, including deep familiarity with PLC, SCADA, DDC, and protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
  • Demonstrated success in building and mentoring technical teams and managing high-value stakeholder relationships.
  • Niagara 4 Technical Certification Program (TCP), CAP or CEM

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to design scalable frameworks for rapid portfolio expansion.
  • Advanced understanding of the intersection between IoT, building analytics, and cybersecurity.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills for translating technical complexity into business value.
  • PMP certifications are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct a multidisciplinary team of BAS engineers and technicians, serving as the primary technical authority for national facilities operations.
  • Define and execute global strategies for BAS implementation, including the standardization of protocols and equipment to drive energy efficiency, infrastructure resiliency, and operational excellence. Provide expertise in an ever-changing technology to assure automation systems remain supported and viable.
  • Orchestrate relationships with external vendors and contractors to ensure seamless system integration and performance, service maintenance agreements (SMA’s).
  • Oversee system audits and ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, with a specific focus on cybersecurity and safety standards. (Inclusive partnership with BAE’s IT subject matter experts and company policy relative to network requirements)
  • Establish Standards for Software, Hardware, Networking, maintenance and other elements of the Building Automation System that supports project planning, CAPEX/OPEX budgeting, and resource allocation for all BAS-related initiatives.
  • Partner with business development and executive leadership to provide technical roadmaps and system evaluations for portfolio growth. Collaborate with all parts of the facilities organization driving alignment for building operations, capital project design and execution serving business needs.
