About The Position

The Building Automation Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, and supporting commercial HVAC Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC). This role will split time between the office and customer job sites, where you will configure controllers, develop control sequences, commission systems, and work directly with installation teams to deliver fully operational building automation solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in (mechanical) engineering or equivalent training and experience in a similar field.
  • 3+ years of technical, hands-on experience with systems design, commissioning and programming of digital HVAC controls systems.
  • Proficiency working with Alerton, Tridium, or Siemens required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet the schedules given by leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and autonomously and take ownership of all tasks.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for employer-based sponsorship currently or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the concepts of HVAC controls in new construction, renovation/retrofit project types, components, and systems with the ability to program and commission pre and post installation, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) and create sequence of operations.
  • Develop and test software programs to operate the system.
  • Apply field change information for as-built drawings and software.
  • Perform tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including: system programming, integration, system and network commissioning and project closeout.
  • Complete hardware design and software programming using established standards.
  • Manage and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provide accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation.
  • Perform site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensure owner/operator has been trained. Provide proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
