About The Position

This is maintenance work facilitating events involving the use and care of City buildings and equipment. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under close supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory responsibility and from lower classes by its emphasis on setting up and monitoring city events. Requirements

  • Completion of high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and one year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Florida Drivers License required.
  • Work requires physical strength and agility.
  • Knowledge of general janitorial and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the general public.
  • Ability to keep records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand complex work schedules and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general janitorial and attendant work at assigned building facilities and grounds, including set-up and clean-up after events and activities.
  • Moves and lifts heavy equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects to prepare for and clean up after events and programs.
  • Locks and unlocks facilities and notifies appropriate authorities in event of emergency.
  • Monitors events and programs and assists as needed.
  • Enforces strict applicable rules and regulations by informing general public participants.
  • Attends work on continuous and regular basis.
  • May perform lead worker or supervisory duties with contract and temporary employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
