Requirements

  • Experience following basic work instructions.
  • Two years of experience in custodial, environmental services, hospitality, warehouse, production, or facilities services.
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, instructions, product labels, product directions, and other written job materials.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good communication skills.

  • Compliance with mandatory safety and defensive driving training.
  • Maintain valid Driver’s License and acceptable UT Driver’s rating.
  • Safely operate UT vehicles.
  • Completion of the federal Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form.
  • Presentation of acceptable and original documents to prove identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • Compliance with E-Verify.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line supervision to custodians in night cleaning operations.
  • Schedule and coordinate the work of Assistant Building Attendant Leaders and Building Attendant II Teams.
  • Maintain order and discipline among staff.
  • Receive and schedule work based on client instructions and provide client feedback.
  • Manage employee performance through observation, communication of goals, and standards.
  • Ensure employees comply with policies, procedures, work rules, and SOPs.
  • Prepare administrative documents including Key Logs, Security Logs, Time Reports, FAMIS, First Reports of Injury, Inspection Reports, Supply Orders, Attendance Records, Training Records, Performance Records, periodic and annual Evaluations, and New Employee Orientation.
  • Provide timely notice to management on matters of concern.
  • Ensure services and event setups are delivered according to schedule and/or work order.
  • Conduct building inspections, comply with procedures and standards, and maintain accurate paperwork.
  • Conduct and document inspections and corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely reporting, submission, and follow-up of building maintenance and custodial issues.
  • Provide timely and effective responses to client complaints, including off-shift visits when necessary.
  • Respond to customer complaints with face-to-face visits with clients as directed by management.
  • Train employees on cleaning, work procedures, safety, policies, and work rules using classroom and individual methods.
  • Direct quarterly rotation and training for specific BA II/ABAL duties (Restroom Specialist, Light Duty Specialist, Vacuum Specialist, Utility Specialist).
  • Attend and participate in training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of records.
  • Conduct employee orientation for new and current employees.
  • Meet training deadlines.
  • Promote and follow safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Report and correct unsafe working conditions daily.
  • Report necessary repairs to the Building Services Supervisor, FCMS, and FAMIS with detailed documentation.
  • Ensure applicable Preventive Maintenance services and inspections of equipment are conducted per SOP.
  • Ensure custodial lockers comply with the Authorized Products List and are free of unauthorized products.
  • Coordinate and organize responses and work related to floods and other emergency clean-up operations.
  • Safely operate custodial equipment and University vehicles as required.
  • Comply with mandatory safety and defensive driving training.
  • Complete applicable forms, logs, and inspections.
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License and acceptable UT Driver's rating.
  • Ensure security of external and internal doors and arming of alarms.
  • Ensure adherence to building and room unlocking and locking schedules, requests, and directives.
  • Ensure proper control and accounting of keys, access cards, and alarm codes.
  • Notify UTPD of security concerns and issues.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and conduct quarterly inventories of select equipment.
  • Provide appropriate security to prevent loss or damage of equipment.
  • Provide immediate reports of loss or damage to UTPD and management.
  • Perform emergency cleaning, including removal and cleanup of bloodborne pathogens.
  • Report repairs as needed.
  • Schedule and staff events.
  • Hold meetings with staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
