Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to relate to all children regardless of needs and/or abilities
  • Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Successful completion of a physical capacity profile test

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the supervision of students in the classroom and other areas of the school facility, including bus arrival/dismissal, lunch and/or recess, school related activities/field trips, and emergency drills/situations.
  • Assists staff in preparation of materials, including reproducing and preparing materials and equipment, correcting papers, workbooks, and tests, and creating and preparing materials for bulletin boards.
  • Works with group or individual students in the daily routine of the classroom under the teacher’s direction, including assisting with classroom management and/or implementation of behavioral management plans, assisting students with homework, tests, and/or seat work, and assisting students with technology.
  • Maintains records for individual students.
  • Reports relevant matters to the building administrator(s) or designee and keeps teacher(s) informed of all relevant student-related matters.
  • Assists the office staff when needed, including recording attendance and lunch count for kindergarten classes and reporting information to the office.
  • Assists in the integration of special education students in the regular classroom.
  • Assists any student as need arises or as requested.
  • Provides relevant/requested information for development and implementation of IEP’s for individual students.
  • Maintains working knowledge and use of available technology.
  • Maintains appropriate health and safety standards.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor.
