We are looking for a dedicated leader and skilled Building and Grounds Supervisor to help us preserve this unique resource while providing an exceptional experience for our visitors. Escalante Petrified Forest State Park is one of the most beautiful State parks in one of the most coveted areas of Utah. With year round recreational opportunities and incredible weather. Working with a team you will be responsible for keeping our grounds and buildings in excellent shape. You will supervise volunteers and employees to achieve the goal of creating a clean safe facility for people to enjoy. Requirements

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means.
  • Skills and training in large equipment operation, including backhoes, skid steers, dump trailers, etc.
  • Skills and training in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, welding, etc.
  • An understanding of government operations, rules, policies, purchasing, etc.
  • Ability to complete projects and plan effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of State Park processes and operations.
  • You might be digging a trench, doing trail repairs, working on a small engine, or doing computer work in the office.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to supervise others by communicating effectively, establishing work assignments and effectively evaluating work performance.
  • Certifications in Mechanics, Welding, electrical, plumbing, concrete, etc

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and maintains facilities, machinery, equipment, systems, etc.
  • Coordinates and completes projects to complete projects to improve and maintain Escalante Petrified Forest park.
  • Reviews and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Schedules and conducts building and ground inspections.
  • Prepares, manages and tracks budgets, pays invoices and ensures state purchasing laws are followed
  • Supervises volunteer and seasonal employees, including training, coaching, and working with people to complete tasks
  • Develops appropriate safety and service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc.
  • Identifies, collaborates and assists in solving maintenance and construction problems and issues.
