Building and Grounds Manager
About The Position
Catamount Mountain Resort is seeking a year-round, full-time Buildings and Grounds Manager with preferred experience. This role oversees all aspects of facilities and grounds maintenance, including building systems, carpentry, landscaping, winter operations, and leadership/administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building codes, safety protocols, and budget management, along with proven experience in supervision and project management. This position requires the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
Requirements
- 5+ years in facilities/grounds management or resort operations, ideally in a hospitality or resort setting.
- Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
- Hands-on carpentry ability for repairs, framing, and general construction work.
- Experience running a preventative maintenance program and conducting building inspections.
- Familiarity with building codes, fire codes, ADA, and OSHA requirements.
- Experience managing contractors/vendors and capital improvement or renovation projects.
- Knowledge of horticulture and seasonal grounds care.
- Experience with winter operations including snow removal and ice management.
- Working knowledge of irrigation, drainage, and erosion control.
- Comfortable operating grounds and snow-removal equipment/machinery.
- Proven experience hiring, training, scheduling, and managing performance.
- Experience with budget management across labor, materials, contracts, and capital projects.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate emergency response and enforce safety protocols.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather.
- Capable of lifting 75 lbs.
- Capable of working at heights, in mechanical spaces, and in confined areas.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
- Perform hands-on carpentry for repairs, framing, and general construction.
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs and conduct building inspections.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes, ADA, and OSHA requirements.
- Manage contractors, vendors, and capital improvement or renovation projects.
- Oversee landscaping, horticulture, and seasonal grounds care (spring cleanup, summer landscaping, fall winterization).
- Manage snow removal and ice management for walkways, parking, and base areas.
- Maintain knowledge of site systems including irrigation, drainage, and erosion control.
- Operate grounds and snow-removal equipment and machinery.
- Hire, train, schedule, and manage the performance of staff.
- Manage budgets for labor, materials, contracts, and capital projects.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Coordinate emergency response and enforce safety protocols.
