About The Position

The Buildings and Grounds Manager at Catamount Mountain Resort is a year-round, full-time position responsible for overseeing all aspects of facilities and grounds maintenance and operations. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge in building systems, hands-on carpentry skills, and experience in managing both preventative maintenance programs and capital improvement projects. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for landscaping, snow removal, site systems, and leading a team to ensure the safety and functionality of the resort's infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in facilities/grounds management or resort operations, ideally in a hospitality or resort setting.
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Hands-on carpentry ability for repairs, framing, and general construction work.
  • Experience running a preventative maintenance program and conducting building inspections.
  • Familiarity with building codes, fire codes, ADA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience managing contractors/vendors and capital improvement or renovation projects.
  • Knowledge of horticulture and seasonal grounds care.
  • Experience with snow removal and ice management.
  • Working knowledge of irrigation, drainage, and erosion control.
  • Comfortable operating grounds and snow-removal equipment/machinery.
  • Proven experience hiring, training, scheduling, and managing performance.
  • Experience with budget management across labor, materials, contracts, and capital projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate emergency response and enforce safety protocols.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather.
  • Capable of lifting 75 lbs and working at heights, in mechanical spaces, and in confined areas.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
  • Perform hands-on carpentry for repairs, framing, and general construction.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs and conduct regular building inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes, ADA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Oversee contractors and vendors for capital improvement and renovation projects.
  • Manage landscaping, horticulture, and seasonal grounds care, including spring cleanup, summer landscaping, and fall winterization.
  • Direct snow removal and ice management operations for walkways, parking areas, and base areas.
  • Maintain knowledge of irrigation, drainage, and erosion control systems.
  • Operate grounds and snow-removal equipment and machinery.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and manage the performance of the facilities and grounds team.
  • Manage budgets for labor, materials, contracts, and capital projects.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Coordinate emergency response and enforce safety protocols.
