About The Position

The Building and Grounds Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, appearance, condition, and reliability of the facility's buildings, grounds, and supporting infrastructure. This position performs inspections, preventive maintenance, general repairs, and facility-improvement work while supporting the maintenance team, contractors, and other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, construction, groundskeeping, or related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and basic electrical repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, pressure washers, ladders, and aerial lifts.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to use eMaint or another computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ability to read basic drawings, equipment manuals, safety instructions, and work orders.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and communicate repair status and material needs.
  • Strong attendance, dependability, teamwork, and attention to safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, food-production, or industrial facility.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting, plumbing, welding, fabrication, or carpentry experience.
  • Forklift and aerial-lift experience.
  • OSHA, lockout/tagout, confined-space, fall-protection, or hot-work training.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain plant buildings, offices, warehouses, storage areas, maintenance shops, and exterior structures.
  • Perform general carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall, concrete, roofing, and minor masonry repairs.
  • Repair and maintain personnel doors, locks, windows, gates, overhead doors, docks, handrails, stairs, ladders, and safety barriers.
  • Inspect roofs, gutters, drains, downspouts, and building penetrations for leaks, deterioration, or damage.
  • Perform basic electrical work such as replacing lights, switches, receptacles, and fixtures within the employee's qualifications and company requirements.
  • Assist with HVAC systems, exhaust fans, heaters, ventilation equipment, and facility temperature-control systems.
  • Repair water lines, drains, sinks, toilets, faucets, valves, hoses, and other general plumbing components.
  • Inspect and maintain parking lots, sidewalks, fencing, signage, exterior lighting, storm drains, and loading areas.
  • Perform mowing, trimming, weed control, snow and ice removal, debris removal, and other seasonal groundskeeping duties. (This will be in 2027)
  • Support facility-cleanliness programs.
  • Inspect emergency lighting, exit signs, eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, and other assigned safety equipment.
  • Complete preventive and corrective maintenance work orders in the eMaint CMMS, including labor, parts, findings, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, structural damage, security concerns, leaks, and other facility risks.
  • Respond to urgent building, grounds, utility, security, and weather-related issues.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, storage areas, and workspaces in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Support production maintenance and other assigned duties when directed by the Maintenance Manager.
