About The Position

As the site-based instructional leader, the Building Administrator coordinates instructional programs, as well as support services and monitors their effectiveness on an ongoing basis. The Building Administrator establishes and maintains strong relationships with teachers, support personnel, students, parents, and members of the local community to maximize the learning potential of each student. A rigorous background in research-based instructional and socio-emotional methodologies is expected. Specific knowledge about supporting culturally and linguistically diverse students is essential. From an administrative perspective the Building Administrator supervises teachers, other service providers, and support staff. Other administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, site-based budgeting to support teaching and learning; taking an active role in district-wide innovation and improvement initiatives; ensuring the implementation of federal, state, and School Committee policies, regulations, and laws; and taking a leading role on RtI teams, PBIS/Target teams, and meetings to support students with disabilities. Innovation, collaboration, leadership, and an unwavering focus on student achievement and essential learner characteristics represent core traits of a successful Cumberland School Department building administrator.
