About The Position

FES-Building Access manages all aspects of building access, including the creation, control, and issuance of keys. Our services also cover keying and rekeying for interior doors, office furniture, cabinets, and more. Additionally, we install new locks, cores, keyless entry systems, and digital access hardware. Our keyless card access solutions use contactless technology and other methods to open doors and grant access to secure areas. We also install security cameras to monitor and ensure the safety of the premises.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of experience in locksmithing, carpentry, electronics or a related field.
  • Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to communicate/teach new concepts effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of apprenticeship locksmith or access control certification.
  • More than four years’ experience in a related field such as locksmith, carpentry or electronics.
  • Knowledgeable in master keying systems and commercial door hardware.
  • Experience and trained in online and stand-alone card access systems.

Responsibilities

  • Rekey, install, and maintain locks.
  • Install and maintain the University card access system.
  • Maintain records in shop database.
  • Maintain shop inventory and place orders for materials and supplies.
  • Assist the Technical Supervisor and Office Manager.
  • Oversee assigned Building Access Tech I and Building Access Trainee positions.
  • Install university card access system, including pulling wire, wiring control modules, card readers, and hardware, as well as installing door hardware and other system components.
  • Maintain the university card access system by troubleshooting wiring problems or lock malfunctions.
  • Repair mechanical locks throughout the university that are not part of the universities card access system.
  • Rekey locks.
  • Cut keys and stamp with university ID system.
  • Install commercial grade mechanical hardware.
  • Assist Technical Supervisor with overseeing the installation of large keyless entry jobs submitted by other departments.
  • Assist office manager with administrative issues.
  • Provide direction and assist and train other departmental personnel.
  • Oversee the computer management of the campus keying system.
  • Maintain and update information in the secure data computer that keeps records of all key bittings used on campus.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor.
