About The Position

Zendar is seeking an experienced Build & Automation Engineer to join their DevOps team. This role involves supporting all infrastructure, including IT, CI/CD, builds and testing, data uploads, and Cloud interactions. The engineer will work closely with the Senior Infra Engineer, offering significant influence in shaping DevOps practices and ample learning opportunities. The position is ideal for someone comfortable managing multiple responsibilities, collaborating with engineers, and making informed decisions about prioritization and implementation.

Requirements

  • Ability to work from the office in Berkeley, CA, at least from Tuesday to Thursday.
  • Engineering mindset and approach to DevOps.
  • 2+ years in an ON-PREM role as Infrastructure engineer, DevOps or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and a solid understanding of deployment workflows.
  • Familiarity with build orchestration technologies and dependency management tools.
  • Comfort with containerization (Docker).
  • Proficiency with Python and Bash.
  • Comfort in managing IT in a small company (device management, user management and maintaining office network).
  • A proactive approach to solving problems and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • A fast learner who brings practical, goal-oriented solutions and strong critical thinking.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Ansible.
  • Experience with dealing with security topics in a DevOps role.
  • Basic familiarity with UI design for building dashboards and internal tools.
  • A track record of excelling in ambiguous or evolving roles.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and adapt CI runners and CI pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage dependencies and deploy updates to the build system, focusing on CMake and Python dependency management toolchains.
  • Handle provisioning, maintenance, and purchasing of workstation and laptop hardware/software.
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the office network environment.
  • Support workflows in both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Optimize build and test runs, potentially by parallelizing testing across CI runners.
  • Enhance the monitoring system to report infrastructure health, including in-house apps for data synchronization.
  • Investigate and evaluate tools for code coverage enforcement and integration into automation.
  • Evaluate and potentially transition from GitHub Actions to a different job scheduling tool as workflows grow in complexity.
