About The Position

This role involves welcoming guests, assisting with seating when needed, and ensuring quality service. The primary responsibility is to handle customer payment transactions effectively and efficiently, providing a positive first and last impression for all guests. The position requires adherence to service standards, knowledge of buffet items, and professional handling of various payment methods. Additionally, the role involves answering phones, addressing customer inquiries and complaints, and monitoring the casino environment for safety and intoxication. Key duties include processing sales transactions, managing gaming point redemptions, adhering to food and beverage policies, and maintaining effective communication with staff and other departments. The position also requires safeguarding company assets and complying with all departmental, company, and gaming commission policies and procedures. A strong emphasis is placed on teamwork, guest satisfaction, and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass departmental test requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with other members of the staff and guests.
  • Must have good reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Must be able to count money and make change correctly.
  • Basic computer or POS system skills required.
  • Must be able to read and understand written policies, procedures, etc.
  • Must possess normal hearing and vision abilities.
  • Must be reliable, courteous and friendly and be able to work directly with the general public.
  • Must be flexible with shift and days off.
  • Must be able to handle busy and stressful situations.
  • Must be able to meet all non-supervisory training and education requirements.
  • Must wear tread safety shoes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous host/hostess and cashier experience preferred.
  • Members of the Meskwaki Nation and other Native American Tribes who are qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will be given preference in accordance to established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Put forth a good first and last impression and welcome customers with a warm friendly smile and sincere greeting.
  • Make every effort to insure absolute customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to Host/Hostess-Cashier Service Standards.
  • Maintain proper information on dining room related signage at Buffet entrance.
  • Assume responsibility for knowledge of specific buffet items being offered during your shift.
  • Comply with sales transaction processing and reporting procedures for cash, credit, cards, comps, discounts, coupons, gift certificates and room charges.
  • Process gaming point redemption purchases on the POS System utilizing a guest's Club Meskwaki Card in accordance with established procedures.
  • Adhere to Food & Beverage Variance Policy.
  • Answer the phone in a professional manner, takes and/or relays messages.
  • Answer customer questions concerning F&B venues, casino promotions, etc.
  • Respond to customer complaints in a professional manner.
  • Notify shift supervisor of any/all complaints.
  • Report to shift supervisor immediately any customer that appears intoxicated.
  • Deter guest intoxication by monitoring number of alcoholic beverages served and visible signs of intoxication.
  • Comply with F&B Department Alcoholic Beverages Policies and Procedure.
  • Report 100% of tips retained per departmental policy.
  • Display flexibility needed to meet dining room work schedule demands.
  • Assume responsibility for knowledge of all memos & other information issued by the Company and F&B Department.
  • Communicates and networks effectively with staff, other departments, and outside representatives in order to maintain a productive and effective department operation.
  • Safeguard and account for the assets of the owners.
  • Comply with policies and procedures required by the department, the company, the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission, and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
  • Monitor the casino environment and follow established safety procedures to provide for the safety of guests and co-workers.
  • Work respectfully and effectively as part of the company team to ensure guest satisfaction, asset protection, and co-worker respect.
  • Report to work on time and as required in professional attire, display a high level of personal cleanliness and follow personal appearance standards.
  • Comply with all departmental safety regulations, using safety equipment as required.
  • Assume responsibility for knowledge of all information in restaurant's Memo Book.
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist wait staff as needed.
  • Contribute to completion of shift side work tasks.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
